Θα θέλαμε να σας ενημερώσουμε ότι η EFSA δημοσίευσε την πρόσκληση υποβολής προσφορών (OC/EFSA/PREV/2023/01) η οποία έχει ως στόχο την επέκταση της χρήσης νέων μεθοδολογικών προσεγγίσεων (new approach methodologies, NAMs) στον τομέα της νευροτοξικότητας (neurotoxicity, NT) και αναπτυξιακής νευροτοξικότητας (developmental neurotoxicity, DNT). Το εν λόγω έργο αναμένεται ότι θα έχει ως αποτέλεσμα τη διασφάλιση της ετοιμότητας σε μελλοντικές αξιολογήσεις επικινδυνότητας. Στην πρόσκληση περιγράφονται ειδικοί στόχοι ως προς method development (e.g identification of test system and prioritisation of chemicals), validation, and regulatory acceptance and implementation of the use of NAMs (e.g transferability, and AOP Integrated Approaches for Testing and Assessment (IATA) case studies for risk assessment).

The call aims to advance in the understanding of how chemical exposures impact brain health and disease and implement this knowledge for protecting human health. The overall objective is therefore to identify test systems to be used in a screening programme, prioritize chemicals to be tested, develop high throughput methods using molecular or cellular approaches and produce proof of concept case studies to conclude on risk assessment.
Maximum budget is € 3,500,000 in total and the call is divided into four lots to cover its objectives, and it will be implemented under the direct contracts with duration of tasks 36 months, respectively:
Lot 1 – Generate Pesticides Data Using the DNT-IVB (€1M budget)
Lot 2 – Produce Transferability for the DNT IVB (€0.5M budget)
Lot 3 – Generate Pesticides/Chemicals Data for Neurotoxicity Using NAMs (€1.5M budget)
Lot 4 – Produce Collaborative AOP Informed IATA for DNT Risk Assessment of Pesticides Active Substances (€0.5M budget).
The call is open for submissions of offers until Thursday 22 June 2023 (14:30 CET).

Offers can be possibly developed by consortia of partners and involving subcontractors.
Interested tender may submit an offer for one or more lots, but each offer should indicate clearly for which lot is applying. In case of applying for several lots, there need to be provided a technical and financial offer for each lot.
EFSA is organising an online webinar for all interested parties and potential tenderers on next Thursday 27 April, from 15:00 to 15:45 (CET) to provide the call overview on background, objectives, tasks and deliverables, and to give possibility to ask questions.
