The laboratory focuses on the complex processes involved in learning, teaching and applying mathematical, technological, environmental and physical science concepts and methodologies for knowledge development. Additionally, the lab has been concerned with research that investigates the role that information and communication technologies might play for both curriculum subject learning and teachers’ professional development and change. In parallel, the SMET lab specializes in designing and constructing teaching/learning materials and methodologies for classroom use are developed to support student teachers, in-service teachers’ training, curriculum developers, policy makers and publishing houses. The laboratory comprises three independent research units: Research Unit A: Education in Science and the Environment (V.
