The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of University of Thessaly is located at the University Hospital of Larissa and provides tertiary care to approximately 1000000 inhabitants in Thessaly and the region of Central Greece. It started its operation in February 2000 and contains 57 beds divided into three wards, an operation theatre for Gynaecological Operations and a Labour ward with an operation theatre on site for caesarean sections. Labour ward has 5 fully equipped delivery rooms, 1 room for special deliveries, which can be converted to surgery and 1 Obstetric Surgery. In the wards cases of women with problems including the classic obstetrics and gynecology as well as the subspecialties, such as high-risk pregnancy, maternal-fetal medicine, infertility and IVF, gynecological endocrinology, gynecologic oncology and Urogynecology. There are also outpatient clinics with general Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the subspecialties.
Study of the characterization of gonadotrophin surge attenuated factor (GnSAF). For this purpose, granulosa cells obtained from follicles of women undergoing in vitro fertilization treatment are used.
Study of the function of the follicles in terms of steroidogenesis in granulosa cells and the factors that affect it.
